of the Committee Meeting held on
Tuesday
24th February 2015, 8pm at Astley Bridge Cricket Club
Present
Steve
Barlow, Steve Cowell, Phil Almond, Steve Watson, Joe Tarkowski.
1.
Apologies
Gwen
Kinloch, Andy Warburton, Ray Hardcastle.
2.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
An
error in the minutes from the meeting held on 27th January was noted.
The Onion and Leek Show is to be held at Astley Bridge Cricket Club
and not Moss Lea Allotments, as reported in the minutes. Otherwise
the minutes of the last meeting held were accepted as a correct
record.
3.
Matters Arising
There
were no matters arising from the previous minutes.
4.
Secretary's Report
Steve
Barlow has written to the Council regarding the toilet doors, which
stick and cannot be closed properly. No response has been received
and Steve will write again, as the site will start to be much busier
soon and the toilet facilities will be required.
Plot
holders are advised to ensure they retain their receipts for rent
payment as two plot holders were threatened with eviction proceedings
even though they had paid. The Council eventually found record of
payment and the problem was rectified.
Steve
expressed a concern that there seems to be more of a delay than
hitherto on the Council’s part in responding to request,
information via the Monthly Returns and will raise this at the next
ABAS meeting.
5.
Greenhouses
Steve
has written to the Council again on two more occasions but as yet has
received no response regarding the request to allow greenhouses on
the plots. Steve will phone if there is still no reply.
6.
Site Maintenance and Repairs
A
garage has been offered for the site and Steve Barlow and Steve
Watson and Phil Almond will view the garage before it is dismantled
to ensure it is suitable. It may be useful as a second hut perhaps
for storage of tools etc
The
manure that was in front of the amenity hut has now been removed and
the grass should recover.
There
are some ruts from vehicles, possible as a result of dropping off
woodchip.
A
skip will be on site in April, date to be advised. Please leave
materials etc that you plan to skip by the side of the Amenity Hut.
The
cold frames need to be renovated and the debris can be disposed of
when the skip is available. Anyone who has one of the cold frames
should make themselves known to Steve Barlow and any spare cold
frames can then be used by other plot holders.
8.
Any Other Business
The
Maher's order has arrived and payment is being taken from members who
have placed an order.
It
was suggested that the amenity hut is opened on some weekends in the
Summer and tea etc made available for members and possible holding a
get together for plot holders in August where everyone contributes
some food.
9.
Date of Next Meeting
Tuesday
31st March 2015, 8pm at Astley Bridge Cricket Club.
